Gerard, or “G” as he is known, began playing saxophone in sixth grade and developed his instrumental skills with inspiration from works by legends John Coltrane, Grover Washington, Jr and Kirk Whalum, among others. While his first love is the sax, Gerard also plays the drums and keyboard and has written a number of songs for The Storytellers and for outside projects. As a worship leader, he draws on early musical inspiration from Commissioned and the Winans family, as well as his own family history which is rooted in singing and serving in ministry.
His music reflects his heart – unconditional love for God and appreciation for the tremendous gift the Creator has given him – the ability to engage and influence others through word and song. When asked to describe his vision and mission for music, Gerard responds, “as one with a heart of worship, I serve to create an atmosphere where every soul can experience liberty through the universal love language: music.”
